Think about this, is the speech you're about to give worth $1,200? If you speak for one hour to 80 people and if the average salary of those team members is $15 an hour, they have spent $1,200 on you. Was it worth it? Do this calculation before you get on stage and it's sobering.
I was pleased to speak to 26 people Wednesday for a half hour. Using this calculation 26 x $15 hr = $390 divided by half = $190. Was I worth $190? I feel certain I was. But before I went on stage I made certain I had prepared thoroughly.
