Weasel words

I've watched quite a few beginning speakers on videotape and you know what they have in common? Weasel words. "I'd like to..." or "If I can suggest..." or "Let me spend a minute and tell you...." Why do we feel the need to fill our presentations with meaningless phrases? They don't advance your message. Kill them.
